lessonOverview

This is a letter you can use to send to customers in an area affected by a natural or another disaster. This particular letter was adapted from one used by Amoco with a portion of their customer base impacted by a major flood.

when you hear about a natural disaster through the news media - remember, first, your customer base in that area may have problems, and second, perhaps it'll be an opportunity to help them and build goodwill.

Once you've learned of a disaster, you should contact the appropriate state and federal agencies to determine which specific counties have been declared disaster areas.

Using that data, take the county information and cross-reference it to your own customers within those zip codes. This letter can be used to send to all customers in the disaster zip code areas.
